What a fun, yet exhausting, weekend! I attended the Midwest Gaming Classic, a hub for everything gaming. I represented the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at our booth, between MoonMuse Entertainment’s and Absolutely Not Games’.
I haven’t really touched S’no Problem since M+DEV, and before this weekend I didn’t really have any plans to. However, maybe that will change.
I remember one kid, seemingly around elementary school age. He dashed over to the UWW booth, grabbed the controller, and started playing S’no Problem. His father followed after, and he told me that his kid was talking about playing the game during the car ride to MGC. I assumed that they were there the day before, but no, the kid remembered the game from last year’s MGC.
Things like that always surprise me. I know I put a lot of effort into my games, but it is so interesting to see people spend upwards of fifteen minutes playing my game, attempting to play it to completion. Especially questions of “when is it coming out?” and “when will there be more levels?” continue to entertain me.
Regardless of whether or not I continue S’no Problem, I think it’s time to start working on a game to put on Steam. This is my last semester at UWW, and I won’t be able to run its booth anymore. Who knows? Maybe I’ll have my own indie company this time next year.
