I’ve had a dream for a while now; ever since the conception of the first Car Car installment: the Car Car engine. It would be a Unity package labeled as an engine simply because cars have engines, and Car Car is no different.
The idea was that the engine would be a reusable point-and-click game assistant. A couple months ago, I began development of it. I created a conditional system, relying on what items or “plot points” had been achieved so far. I created a drag-and-drop system for different “actions” that occur- scene transitions, gaining items, dialogue, etc.
Some may say I went too far.
Unfortunately, I did not finish the engine until the UWW October 2025 game jam was an hour until finish. Eager to please my teammates, I continued work on the actual game for two weeks. And now, I can now use the term “Car Car Saga.”
I don’t know why I am obsessed with essentially a Putt-Putt OC. I don’t know why others tolerate my dedication to this vehicle. However, one this is for certain.
Car Car is here to stay.
