M+DEV: “the” Midwest game industry conference. This conference is full of things to do- speakers from the industry to listen to, an indie game showcase, and brand-new this year, their Artist Alley: a spot for vendors to sell assorted items.
This year, I’ve been selected to showcase my game, S’no Problem. In the game, you play as a penguin that rolls snowballs to build snowmen. It slowly introduces new puzzle mechanics as the player advances through levels.
However, before M+DEV, I want to improve and polish S’no Problem. I’m already familiar with a couple bugs within the game, as well as things that could be improved upon. Additionally, I created a Google Form for playtesting! I’ve never done documented playtesting before for my personal projects, so I’m excited to see what I get out of it.
If there’s time, I’d love to add some more levels. Specifically, some Halloween-themed levels. I’d love to be able to say, “I added a Halloween update to my game.” Shivers.
Last year, I showcased my game, Cowboy’s Chorus. It was extremely fun getting to meet everyone that stopped by my booth. My booth wasn’t anything fancy, however. Perhaps this year I will buy a tablecloth.
Regardless, lots of preparation to do in-game and out, as well as balancing midterms. Will S’no problem be in an even more presentable state by November 8th? Will the Halloween levels be added? Will Brian buy a tablecloth?
Definitely stay tuned.
